The following graduate students carried out the research plans under the supervision of the PI, with all outcomes listed under the Research Outcomes tab. The undergraduate students participated in the undergraduate research activities of the project, including leading an outreach activity to K-12 students.

Graduate Students

Gourav Saha received a B.E. in Instrumentation Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, India, in 2012 and M.S. from IIT Madras, India, in 2015 specializing in Systems and Control. Since 2015 he has been working towards his PhD at RPI. His current focus is on the use of randomized online algorithms in 5G wireless networks.

Yu Wang  received his B.S. in Communication Engineering from China University of Petroleum, Shandong, China, in 2011 and M.S. from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA, in 2015. His has been pursuing Ph.D. in RPI since 2017.  His research is focusing on coded caching.



Syed Ahsan Raza Naqvi received his B.E. in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan, in 2015. His undergraduate research focused primarily on 5G and millimetre wave networks. Since 2017, he has been working towards his PhD in Electrical Engineering. His focuses on the charging schedules of electric vehicles and their potential impacts on the smart grid.


Samta Shukla, PhD, 2018, received her B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Bhilai Institute of Technology, India, in 2010, and  an M.S. in Communications Engineering  from IISc., Bangalore, India in 2013. Her research is on stochastic optimization with a focus on problems in data caching and storage. She held PhD internships with IBM Research, India, and Akamai, Cambridge MA in 2014 and 2017, respectively. She received RPI’s prestigious 2016 Founders Award of Excellence.


Teng Liu, PhD, 2018, received his BS degree in EE from Anhui Polytechnic University, China. He joined RPI in 2012 and received his MS degree in ECSE in 2014. He is currently working on storage allocation and hierarchical caching in content-centric networks.



Mehrdad Khaledi, PhD, 2016,  received his BS degree in Computer Engineering from Azad University of South Tehran, Iran, in 2007 and the MS degree in Information Technology Engineering (Computer Networks) from Sharif University of Technology, Iran, in 2010. He joined RPI in 2011, and he is currently working on auctions and game-theoretic models for wireless spectrum sharing. 


Dibakar Das

Dibakar Das, PhD, 2016, received the B.Tech. degree in electrical engineering from IIT, Madras, India, in 2008 and the M.S. degree in computer engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, USA, in 2011. His research interests include cooperative communications and cognitive radios. He held a PhD student internship at Intel in 2015. He received RPI’s ECSE Charles M. Close ‘62 Doctoral Prize for outstanding work as a researcher and teacher.
